Girls' Day Out

Another public holiday yesterday, yeay!

Mommy and I decided to become mall rats for the evening.

Since Christmas is all about sharing and caring, they had giant styrofoam hearts around the mall.
Mommy said she doesn't do pink hearts but this happened to be the better shot.

There were tonnes of christmas trees for sale too.
I thought the ball ornaments were so yummy I wanted to bite them all!

After walking around, we moved on to the actual objective of going to the mall - grocery shopping.
Wow you all are so obedient to be lining up like that.
Wake up and swim now!
Err, fishies?

I chattered my teeth at the frozen section ...

While mommy lost her list and tried to apply memory by association.
Butter - no.
Margarine - just got that last week.
Cheese - nobody eats that in the house.
Yoghurt drink - can't be, too healthy.
Um, ok baby this is going to take some time ...
It's bad enough that I had to share my personal space with bags of oranges and onions.
Next time please remember to bring those recycleable shoppping bags okay.

Finally, after combing the supermarket aisles and mission accomplished, it was time to eat!
About time if you asked me, Teddy was starting to look very yummy

While waiting for our food, mommy thought it would be fun to do self-portrait but neither of us was good at making duck faces.
(Mommy's too old, I am too young hahaa)

So we decided to look like ourselves instead.

I thought they turned out alright, what do you think?

Have a good day everyone!

All Things Malaysian

I am proud to say I did some pretty Malaysian things over the weekend.
They included:

1. Saying hi to one of the many kitties by the sidewalk.
The poor kitty had a wound, but she was quite nice despite her condition.

Unlike this kid-hating cranky monster we have at home.

2. Having breakfast at a mamak restaurant while waiting for mommy's car to be washed.
Me super happy after eating roti canai koyak-banjir-dhal-tak mau-sambal and teh o ais!

3. Hogging seats (hee hee ok so not ALL Malaysians hog seats :-D)
while waiting for Wan at the doctor's office ...

And while waiting for pizza too.
Oh btw, Pizza Hut gives out great crayons, they actually color well.
Which was why I decided to color my pizza blue.

4. Eating out
(while jostling with a gazillion other families who also eat out on weekends)

 And finally ...

5. Snapping pictures of and with Christmas trees.
We can never get enough of them can we? The whiter/ wintery the better :D

Have a great week ahead!

My Onion and I

My kindy had a Little Scientist project some weeks back.

We planted Allium cepa!
Source: Wiki

Oh well that's just the fancy name for onions, which of course come in different shapes, colors and sizes.

And they are used in various ways - fried, pickled, raw:

Some are also used rather unconventionally:

For our project, first my teachers kept the onions in the fridge to make them sprout.

They came out with yellow sprouty leaves all skewed to one side:

Apparently they were fighting for light.

Once they were exposed to the sun, they became straight and tall.

I am proud to call this onion mine!

However, Wan is threatening to chop them off and put them in her cekodok batter.

While I may come home from school one day finding my onion leaves like this ...

I do not plan to quit farming and will find new crops to plant!

That looks interesting. I get a plant and a pet caterpillar all in one!

Oh look, this doubles up as something to drink from.

And these can serve as mats too!

One thing for sure, they would never end up in Wan's frying pan :)

Weekend Wanderings

I spent my Saturday on the road.

First, we travelled down to Seremban for Wan to buy her medicines at this particular pharmacy in a ghetto-looking neighbourhood.

But the ghetto-looking area had a fabulous toy shop (as recommended by Auntie Cahaya) and I managed to snatch this at a good bargain!

My first guitar! Woo hoo!
Wan was a little iffed with the color combination and thought it was too K-pop.
Location: Nek Bib's house. We gate-crashed to say hello.

See the three buttons?
The first one on the left lights the guitar up.
The second one plays the song 9 p.m. (Till I Come) by ATB (how cool is that?)
The third button blares out a song no one could make out and drives everyone nuts.
Oh, and the best thing is you cannot adjust the volume.
Now that rocks hee hee.

Next we drove further down south to Pedas where Mak Su lives and Mak Ngah comes home to.

Pedas in Malay literally means hot (like chilli).
I am still wondering how the place got its name since  the air tasted quite alright, I didn't have to drink too much water :).

In Pedas we got up close and personal with Kim, Mak Su's male Persian.
Under normal circumstances he would flee at the sight of strangers.

However, Kim was nice enough when we were there.
He actually let me pet him and sat with us while we chatted.

I wonder what is under that bushy tail.
After a while Kim got bored.

And while the adults chatted non-stop like there was no tomorrow ...

I got to wear Wan's Kardashian-ish indoor slippers.

And made monster faces at Mommy for being such a paparazzi.

When it crossed her mind, Wan remembered me and paid me some attention ...

Otherwise I could pout and sulk and they wouldn't even notice.

When it was late evening, mommy said it was time to go.

We said our bye-byes to Mak Ngah, Mak Su, Pak Ngah, Pak Su and of course Tok Long.

And not forgetting Kim the emo cat.

Thank you for having us!
